Liturgy
Sunday Mornings
The 8:00 a.m. Mass is the smaller of the two. It runs between 45 minutes and an hour. The scripture readings and sermon are the same as at the 10:00 a.m. Mass.
Our larger service is at 10:00 a.m. The service (we call it “Mass” — but calling it Holy Eucharist or Holy Communion is fine, too) runs between an hour and an hour-and-a half. We are a “liturgical” church, which means the structure of the Mass is the same from Sunday to Sunday. However, the scripture (Bible) readings change every week, as do the hymns (which are accompanied by our pipe organ or piano), the anthem our choir sings, and the sermon. All are welcome to receive Holy Communion, which we believe is the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The 10:00 a.m. Mass we call “Rite Two”, which uses modern English. Both liturgies come from The Book of Common Prayer, which is what the Anglican (and later American Episcopal) Church has used in one form or another since 1549.
There isn’t a dress code — some people dress up, others are quite casual: it makes no difference to us (just as long as you’re dressed!).
Wednesday at Noon
We begin at 12:10 PM, and this Mass runs between 30 and 40 minutes — perfect for people who keep a lunch hour. We use the Rite Two service, with a short sermon and, of course, Holy Communion. The location of this Mass rotates between any of St. Paul’s five chapels.

Children’s Ministry
Nursery
We welcome all children under 4 years of age on Sunday mornings from 9:30a.m. – 11:30a.m. The Nursery Room is located on the second floor (215). It is stocked with toys, books and other play items for our young children to enjoy during the church service.
Theresa Roach is our Nursery attendant. She is a Flint native, graduated from Hamady High School and has a degree in Journalism from Central Michigan University and a Masters of Communication & Digital Media Design from Saginaw Valley State University. Theresa is also a Crim Mindfulness Fellow, Certified to teach Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute. She has worked for the Crim Foundation for 12 years. She has gained experience as an aunt of several nieces and nephews, caring and loving the opportunity to work with young children.
Sunday School
During the 10:00a.m. Mass on most Sundays, children may attend Sunday School. Sunday School supports the Christian formation through age-appropriate stories and activities that promote learning and engagement. Our children join together to learn about Christ’s teachings and the many ways in which to show love for another and how to care for those who may be sad, or hungry, or lonely.
Sunday School ends with the procession of the gifts with the kids walking with the banners and cross.
Campus Ministries
At St. Paul’s, our Young Adult and Campus Ministry (YACM) is currently focused on building relationships with students and student organizations such as Intervarsity Campus Ministry and the Center for Gender and Sexuality. Together, we help them explore their faith and find community with others as they navigate the every-day challenges of being a student.
We are a resource and work together on projects and initiatives such as the development of a workshop on the Intersection of Faith and Sexuality – exploring the ways in which queer people find faith in a world and a church that has caused harm. Initiatives will evolve based on the needs and interests of the students.
Camp Chickagami
Located in Presque Isle, Michigan, those in grades 3 -12 have an opportunity to attend summer camp (usually mid to late June) for a week of outdoor crafts, games, and activities that support Christian formation and lifetime friendships.
Transportation is provided for those attending from Genesee County and scholarships are available. Campers do not need to be a member of St. Paul’s to attend camp or receive a scholarship.
We are working to link the entries for this camp, since it also appears in Ministry Partners and Giving.
Parking & Accessibility
Parking in available in the main lot behind the church (on the east side) and in our smaller lot on the south side of the building. On-street parking is free on Sundays, but metered during the week.
St. Paul’s is a block and a half from the MTA bus station, so we’re easily accessible by public transport.
Our big front doors on Saginaw Street are open to you Sundays and Wednesdays. Our rear and south side doors are open Sundays, and the south side door is open Tuesday and Wednesday. If you come in through the south side door you will find our elevators to the left of the stairs – just press the ML bottom for our main floor and BH to return to the level you originally entered through. We also have wheelchair access through our garden door facing Saginaw Street.
